July 1970	Hakuho Foundation established as a Ministry of Education accredited incorporated foundation on the occasion of Hakuhodo's 75th anniversary
November 1970	1st Hakuho Awards presented in three categories:Japanese as the National Language Education, Education for the Visually Impaired and Education for the Hearing Impaired
February 2004	1st Hakuho Education Forum held
September 2005	Research Grant for Child Education initiated
February 2006	Japanese Research Fellowship initiated
March 2007	Japanese Language Exchange Program initiated
April 2011	Hakuho Foundation commences operation as a public interest incorporated foundation
June 2016	Survey research program initiated
April 2017	Hakuhodo Foundation Child Research Institute established
April 2018	Teacher Development Scholarship initiated
January 2020	Foundation name changed to Hakuhodo Foundation
April 2020	Launched Social Enlightenment Program "expansion of reading opportunities for children"

The Hakuhodo Foundation was established in 1970, aiming at helping children grow and develop rich human qualities.
It is our 50th anniversary in 2020 and we continuously provide various different types of support for activities carried out by teachers and researchers on the frontline of child and language education, including not only the Hakuho Award which honors schools, organizations and educators working tirelessly in education, Research Grant for Child Education, and Teacher Development Scholarship at the center of our activities, but also Japanese Language Exchange Program, the Social Enlightenment Program/Expanding Reading Opportunities for Children, Japanese Language Education Program, and Survey Research Program.

The Foundation will continue working toward a brighter future for children and for society through a variety of activities.
